Data archival and dissemination

  • Cataloged 83 new cruises received from 10 vessels over the past quarter (Atlantis, Healy, Sharp, Knorr, Langseth, Oceanus, Thompson, Wecoma, Revelle, Melville)
  • Participated in the development of an ISO compliant multibeam metadata template with NOAA and other partners. R2R will submit multibeam metadata to NGDC in the structure specified by this template.
  • Submitted all raw multibeam and XBT data from Melville and Revelle 2009 cruises to NGDC.

WebSite Upgrades

Real-Time MET Data

  • Recruited the Melville and Revelle for submission of MET data to SAMOS-R2R. Anticipate Cape Hatteras will soon be participating. Also received full metadata for the Wecoma as part of SAMOS 2.0 real-time protocol efforts.
  • Continued development of the SAMOS 2.0 real-time data transfer protocol.
  • A standard vessel coordinate system schema for locating devices on research vessels has been drafted and vetted among a small group of UNOLS operators. The final draft is available at http://www.rvdata.us/operators/coordsys and will be further vetted by the full RVTEC panel prior to RVTEC 2011.

Event Logger

  • The R2R Event Logger has been used on 12 cruises to date in 2011 aboard 7 ships (Endeavour, Challenger, Oceanus, Thompson, Atlantis, Knorr, Melville)
  • Eventlogger Events and Actions Vocabularies will be served by R2R vocabulary database

R2R Products

  • Standard R2R navigation products created for several cruises from 2009 and 2010 for Kilo Moana, Healy, Melville, and Hugh Sharp

Quality Assessment

  • Beta Multibeam QA code tested on several cruises from 2009. To be presented at RVTEC.
  • Beta Gravity and Magnetics QA code developed and tested for several cruises from 2009.
